About The Uffizi Mission Project

Our mission is to open old and new rooms in Santa Barbara for union, incarnation, and friendship.  Our trust in Christ is best shown by our outward actions of love and compassion in our community and ultimately throughout the world.  We submit ourselves to Christian Associates International and we currently partner with North Star Coffee Company and the Village Apartments.  The mission is continually unfolding before us so we seek to be both ancient, present, and future in our view of the work of God on earth.  The Kingdom of God is at hand.

Our Story

The mission began with the calling of God to open the Uffizi Museum in Santa Barbara.  I was on vacation with my family in Florence, Italy.  We had the opportunity to enter the Uffizi Museum, and there I encountered the power of God, revealing Himself through the eyes of the artist.  I was especially captured by the paintings illustrating the “incarnation.”  The incarnation is the fact that God became human, and specifically for the reason of revealing the true nature of God to us.  God does not stay distant, He comes so that we might listen, see, touch, question, seek more… I heard the soft voice of God tell me that when I returned, I was to open the Uffizi for Santa Barbara, and that this might impact the world.

I understand now that the “incarnation” gives us a whole new model of mission.  It is the model of friendship.  Jesus befriended us for the sake of revealing Himself and also the Kingdom of God.  Friendship is itself a redemptive process - a place of understanding and mutual sharing, and Jesus is just inherently attractive to the thirsting soul.

Liquid Communities

We seek to establish communities of relational redemption throughout our cities.  These communities will be in coffee shops, homes, businesses, city streets… Our dream is to be a grace giving redemptive movement in our city and to be on the road more than at the rest stop.

We currently have communities at:

*Pershing Park - Meal Sharing with Friends without Homes - Wednesday Nights 5:30pm

*The Village Housing Complex at 524 West Anapamu

*North Star Coffee Company - 918 State Street

*The Uffizi Community - Third Saturday of Every Month
