State Street Movement

State Street in many ways is the life center of downtown Santa Barbara.  It is the great mixing place of the sub-cultures of our city.  I have a goal of creating many living water holes up and down the street so that men and women can discover the beautiful call of Jesus, and discover eternal life.  Again the incarnational, friendship orientation is our approach - so we want to encourage you to be on State Street as much as you can, listening to call of Christ to love people in these spaces.

The movement now is growing - we have few hubs where things are happening.  One of the places is North Star Coffee Company, located at 918 State Street. I am supporting the works of several social justice works locally and throughout the world.  You will find a social justice board near the office at North Star.  Please support the works, and if you know of any for me to highlight, please let me know.

First Thursdays – Once a month, the culture of State Street creates an experience centered around art, music and food.  A couple of friends are currently seeking a spot to join in the festivity, create an art wall, and love all involved in the State Street culture.  If you want to help them, let me know.

Holy Chaos - a new community with our Friends without Homes has just started at the Loft on State Street, 821 State Street.  We currently meet on Sundays at 2pm, and we are discerning how to create community with our friends.  You can join us!

Summer of Love 2009 - We have a vision for going in groups of twos throughout State Street from June - August of 2009.  We will be befriending whoever we meet in the name of Jesus, and seeing how God moves.  We will also have a few parties with all the new friends we meet during the summer.  If you are interested in this, please email me at syncmanatns@aol.com.

And finally, on Wednesday nights at 8:30pm you can find me and some friends hanging out at Elsie’s Tavern - you can find it on 117 West De La Guerra Street.  I never know who will be in our conversational circle!
