West Side Movement

New Opportunities at the Village
*Kids Club - we have started a kids club at the Village apartments, Thursdays at 4:30-6:00pm. If you want to help with kids, please let me know.
*Prayer Walking - We do a regular prayer walk on the West Side on Thursdays at 12:30pm. We pray for peace and as God leads. We meet at the apartments and go throughout the West Side.
*Great Books for Kids - I am hoping to develop a reading library within the apartments. Some students are willing to come from Westmont and other areas to read to kids. I have a reading list completed - let me know if you would like to buy a book for the Village library.
The History of the Uffizi Mission Partnership with The Village Apartments
My family moved to the West Side in April 2006. Through various connections, one day I visited the Village apartments to have a meeting with Dean Wilson and hear about the work of the Turner Foundation. The Turner Foundation purchased this apartment complex on the West Side, 70 units, for the expressed purpose of blessing the West Side and making it a safe place to live. We share the same passion - to express the love of God for people in real tangible ways. You can read about the Village Apartments at http://www.theturnerfoundation.com/the-village.htm.
Again, there are ways for you to partner with us in the work of God on the West Side. We are now working on a plan of community health development as well. This means we are working to develop a leadership community within the apartments, who will care for their own needs and multiply the effort throughout the West Side.
The Village now has a community center, open Monday-Thurs afternoons from 3-7pm. This is a great way to befriend families here. It is also a great way for you to enter the lifeblood of the culture.
I am currently moving some of my books into one of the offices, hoping to develop a discipleship hub where I can help people here grow in their relationship with God. There are several men and women who have expressed how their lives have been changed here, because they have been loved. I hope that these same people will move into other areas of the West Side to bless others now. If you would like to join me in this discipleship work, let me know.
There are many other opportunities here as well. You can sponsor kids to receive piano lessons. You can help the Turner Foundation build a health center/gym here by giving financially or by lending a helping hand. You can volunteer to help when we put on festive banquets for our friends on the West Side.
If you want to know more, send me an email and we can set up a time to meet down at the Village.
